Roger Monkhouse at Crack Comedy London
'Streatham Laughs Friday Nights at Hideaway!' - Fri 12th Jul 2013 Book
Roger Monkhouse was raised in Kingston upon Thames during the seventies and retains his Estuary drawl despite a decade of living in Sheffield where he has run his own clubs, The Last Laugh and The Merry Hell. Since 1990 he has performed extensively throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland and has recently performed in the Netherlands, The Czech Republic, South Africa and the Middle East.

Roger is a consummate stand-up who employs a deadly combination of charm and menace to exert a masterful control over any audience. As a seasoned host and TV warm-up he can improvise freely with any crowd but is nonetheless marked out as a comic by the intelligence of his material and his keen eye for a fine phrase. His subject matter is broad and diverse, ranging from blood doning to contemporary mating ritual, but his approach remains essentially observational with the spin of an accomplished gag writer.

Roger is a regular at London's Comedy Store and in 1998 was featured on The Comedy Store's national tour sponsored by Hooch. His television credits include Something For The Weekend (YTV/Tyne-Tees) which he co-hosted with Micky Hutton and The Comedy Store (Channel 5).

Tipped in 1993 by William Cook of The Guardian, as one of three new comics to look out for, Roger has performed warm-up for Rory Bremner, Jonathan Ross and BBC2's Reportage. His own TV credits include Something for the Weekend (Chameleon Television), Comedy Rules (STV), Anything Goes (Sky), Icons (Granada) and Cashback (Meridian). He is original, classy and acute, but above all else, in all conceivable circumstances, devastatingly effective.
